The cost to perform a soil test is $8 per sample, the Muhlenberg County Conservation District is currently offering soil vouchers (12 per landowner) to cover the cost of sampling. Click here to learn more.

Soil Test Fee Change! Effective August 1, 2020 fees for soil tests are $8 per sample. Checks for soil tests should be made to: Soil Test Fund.

If you would like to drop off a sample for testing here are a few things to remember:

  • Soil samples must be DRY. No wet samples will be accepted. Once your sample has been collected, spread it out on newspapers/cardboard to dry before bagging. DO NOT put your sample in the oven/microwave to speed drying time. This will drastically affect your results.
  • We need a small plastic zip-type bag full of dirt to complete a soil sample test.
  • If you have sample vouchers (more information above) and leave them with your samples your soil sample fee will be waived. If you do not have vouchers you must leave exact change or check made payable to Soil Test Fund when dropping off your samples.
  • Be sure to provide your phone number in case we need to contact you.

Contact our Agriculture & Natural Resources Agent, Darrell Simpson at drsimpso@uky.edu if you have questions about sampling.
